The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji's Centenary Year (1969) to establish a meaningful link between campus education and rural communities.
It provides students with hands-on opportunities to understand social realities, work collectively in environmental and medical campaigns, and learn first-hand administrative leadership through real-world problem-solving.
This motto underlines the concept of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service. It reflects our belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of society as a whole.
To build a youth volunteer force in Vettathur that acts as a proactive agent of social welfare, civic hygiene, and progressive digital development.
To drive impactful community sanitation, green conservation, blood donations, and cybersecurity campaigns while fostering leadership skills in students.
"Serving the community is the highest learning curve for any student. At NSS Vettathur, we shape not just academic minds, but empathetic social leaders."
The symbol is based on the giant Rath Wheel of Konark Sun Temple. The wheel signifies progress, cycle of creation, and preservation. The deep blue color in the badge represents the cosmos of which the NSS is a tiny part, ready to serve mankind. The red color denotes the active volunteer blood.
