Campaign Overview
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Government Higher Secondary School, Vettathur actively participated in an Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign organized in collaboration with the Excise Department on 5 June 2026. The program was conducted with the objective of educating students and the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a healthy, responsible, and drug-free lifestyle.
More than 70 participants joined the campaign, including NSS volunteers, Junior Red Cross (JRC) members, teachers, senior educators, school administrators, Excise officials, and community representatives. The event demonstrated the united commitment of educational institutions and government agencies in combating substance abuse among youth.

Awareness Rally Through the Community
The program began with a large awareness rally led by officials from the Excise Department. Participants marched through important public areas carrying banners and messages promoting a drug-free society. The rally attracted the attention of local residents and encouraged meaningful discussions about the dangers of addiction and substance abuse.
Educational Sessions and Cultural Programs
Following the rally, participants gathered for an awareness session where Excise Department officials delivered informative talks on the growing challenges posed by substance abuse. Officers explained the legal consequences of drug-related activities and highlighted the importance of early intervention, awareness, and community vigilance.
